Cardamom Cinnamon Coconut Snowflake Cookies

Hard to believe Christmas is less than a week away! I know there's nothing like baking in the kitchen to bring on that holiday cheer! I don't really bake all year and come Christmas, I'm in the kitchen  making up for the whole the year! 🤣 So when my friend Kelly at The Tattered Pew asked me to join her Christmas Cookie Blog Hop, I was excited to join! And if you're here from Kelly's blog, welcome! I hope you'll go visit Jordan at House Becomes Home Interiors to continue on with four other yummy cookie recipes!

I'm sharing a recipe I found scrolling through Instagram one day and the most beautiful video popped up from Bakingthegoods.com. Cardamom Coconut Snowflake Cookies. After making the first batch I wanted something a little softer in taste so I changed one ingredient. Swapping the Cardamom in the icing for Cinnamon.

How to Make a Faux Gingerbread Cookie Wreath

Living on a budget really helps the mind get creative. I see things laying around that are free and always think, "what can I make out of that!" I was seeing a lot of gingerbread Christmas décor last year but this year, wow! It's inspired me and since I'm not big on baking, not that I can't It's not what I enjoy most. The mess and seeing all that hard work gone in about an hour 🤣 I would rather spend my time elsewhere in the home. Then it dawned on me that the cardboard boxes that keep arriving for Christmas have that gingerbread brown color!

All of my hard work won't get eaten & I can enjoy it again next year!

Welcome to our home for the holidays! I'm honored & so excited to be joining 21 other bloggers this week for the 2018 Tour of Homes Blog Hop! You can tour the other homes at the end of my post & you can find last years Christmas home tour here!
It's fun to look back and see how our styles change through the years.

I love different styles of Christmas this year so our home has a little mix of Winter Wonderland in the dining room, classic in the bedroom & vintage in the living room.

"Tis the season for my favorite décor!"

Christmas Home Tour Blog Hop: A Vinatge Christmas

I can't believe Christmas is actually here again! It's definitely my favorite holiday, like most of you I'm sure!  It's always so much fun to be joining my blogger friends this time of year! Everyone always shares such great inspiration and traditions.
Welcome to our home for Christmas! I'll be sharing our living room, kitchen & master bedroom. My goal this year was to keep it simple and classic. Trying to let the greenery of Christmas be the showcase with vintage touches. Candles, chippy windows, classic ribbon and subtle touches of red.

5 Tips for Creating a Christmas Vignette

If you're short on Christmas décor don't fret! I'm sharing some tips on how to create beautiful vignettes around your home with stuff you may already have or that you can find for free! You would be surprised with what you can pull together from your kitchen! Herbs, tea cups, backing pans, serving dishes, etc! One great free option is nature! Pinecones and evergreens are in most of our yards.

1. Use Faux Plants from other Seasons
One way I like to use what I have on hand, is flowers and faux foliage from other seasons. Mixing in some flowers from past season like Fall or Spring. Magnolias are great during Christmas and I used some of my soft pink Ranunculus and pale green Dusty Miller to make my winter garland fuller here.

How to Make Vinatge Christmas Stockings

I recently went searching for vintage Christmas stockings and couldn't find any at an affordable price! I found these Linen stockings on Amazon at a great price, four for $13.99!! That's about $3.50 each! The cuff is a little shinny but I was surprised by the fabric on the underside. It's a lighter linen color and by folding the cuff up it lengthened the stockings like the long vintage stockings! When I purchased these my intent was to cover the cuff with lace or pretty detailed fabric.

Classic Christmas Decor In The Bedroom

I've never done Christmas décor in the bedroom before but this year I wanted to create a simple and classic Christmas scene in our bedroom! A restful look to end the long days with, lay down and have the glow of the tree at night next to us. I knew I would find the perfect faux garland and wreath from Afloral! I love holiday berries and their Juniper Garland with the frosted like blueberries stole my heart. ❤ I'm sure most of you know blue is my favorite color and I use it throughout our entire home!

How To Makeover A Bathroom For Under $200 - Part 1

I'm so excited to be sharing how we made over our boys bathroom for under $200! This bathroom makeover should have been done when we first moved in, 2 years ago! But, I'm glad we waited so I could come up with a better design plan than just painting the walls. I'm going to break this bathroom makeover post into a two or three part post since going into all of the details about installing some of products gets pretty lengthy. For this PART 1, I'm sharing the before and after pictures with the products we used. I'll be sharing the process with tips on installing the Peel and Stick Tiles and the Board & Batten in PART 2 and PART 3!

When I started planning this bathroom makeover I had planned on buying a new mirror (a gold one), spray painting the light fixture black and spray painting the faucet black. Once we finished installing the board & batten and painting , the brushed nickel finish didn't look as dated anymore and decided to leave it as is. I think brushed nickel is a timeless finish and changing everything to black will eventually go out of style. It saved us about $60-$120 too by leaving the black mirror.

Vintage Chic Halloween Tablescape: Halloween Tablescape Blog Hop

I'm thrilled to be joining Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate for this fun Halloween Tablespace Blog Hop! I wasn't planning on doing Halloween décor this year but as soon as I stared setting up some of the spiders, bats and rats...….oh my! The kids were filled with excitement! I think even more than Christmas décor! 🤣 When my older boys were younger they loved Halloween! My oldest especially, the creepier the better! I was always a little worried by how much he liked the scary stuff but it did eventually wear off. Thank goodness, but most of my Halloween décor is creepy.

I went into this setting not wanting to buy anything and I love vintage Victorian style décor. I had to think out of the box a little on this one and went with a little creepy and a little vintage using some of my antique dishes. It's more of a playful style by mix & matching dishes and a sprawling centerpiece. I didn't buy anything!! My husband was happy!

Outdoor Fall Dining Table

I love neutral Fall colors inside of our home but I love adding traditional Fall colors outside to add warmth! I recently found Factory Craft Direct and teamed up with them to share some ideas for a warm Outdoor Fall Tablescape! I'm loving the deep burgundy/purple color this year and when I saw that they had candle wreaths with some of that color in them, it set the feel of this whole setting. Mixing natural textures like burlap for the table runner & wicker for the chargers.
I was blown away by how affordable their décor is! You could really get lost in their site with endless possibilities for creating a beautiful space!

Fall Tea for Two with Afloral.com

I've always wanted to throw a vintage inspired tea party and what better time than Fall! The dried flowers from Afloral.com set the perfect vintage Fall Tea for Two setting! I have two younger children, Luke is 3 and Ava is almost 2! I gathered up some of our thrifted china, family heirlooms and their little table set I built last year. Even though it's about 90 degrees every day here in Florida, when I think Fall, I think of warm cozy nights by the fire and yummy treats. Creating a little treat area makes this tea party more enjoyable for the kids and gives a cozy outdoor dining feel!

Fall Front Porch: Fall Festival Blog Hop

Welcome to the 🍂Fall Festival Blog Hop🍂! I'm so excited to be joining this amazing group of 25 other talented ladies featuring a different theme each day this week! Be sure to check out the others at the end of my post!
Not going to lie, I was really nervous choosing to share our front door for this blog hop! Our house needs painting, it's a REALLY small space and the ground never dries out from rain right now. Our entrance isn't covered so, it's hard to put anything out front so, it posses TWO hard challenges!
1. Not much space
2. Everything gets wet
I was up for this challenge though because not all of us have big front porches with beautiful decks. That shouldn't hold us back from creating an inviting home!

French Country Nightstand Makeover with Fusion Mineral Paint

I really have a soft spot for furniture that has a lot of detail! I check Facebook Marketplace about 100 times a day looking for antique pieces at a good price. A good price to me is $20! 🤣 The most I've ever paid for a piece of furniture was $60. It was a buffet that was already painted HERE and felt that it was well worth the $60 considering the size of the piece.
When I came across this gorgeous French nightstand listed for $50 I really wanted it! I messaged the seller offering $20 and he said no. About an hour later he messaged back saying if I came that day for it I could have it for $20! It was meant to be mine!❤

I used Fusion Mineral Paint in "Little Whale" for the body and "Casement" for the white details. Fusion Mineral Paint is my favorite paint for furniture! There is minimal prep work, the paint goes on supper smooth and there's a built in top coat, which means you don't have to apply a sealer over most projects. I'll be sharing a more detailed post about FMP products soon!

Fall Kitchen Refresh with Bloomr.com

The  first day of Fall is this Saturday, September 22nd! I've already done Fall décor around the house, back patio and our front porch. I don't usually freshen up the kitchen, but when Bloomr reached out to try some of their luxury faux florals I thought they would be perfect for our kitchen! Flowers in the kitchen always make it feel more alive and cozy. You don't have to use the traditional Fall colors either to make it feel like Fall. My style tends to lean towards softer colors. More of a feminine feel.
I chose neutral colors and mixed in greens, copper, natural pumpkins and warm tones.

Bloomr is offering 30% off your order with coupon code "CAC30"

Fall Patio Bench Refresh

Happy to say I had one goal this past weekend, finish painting and styling this bench! I got it done and I'll be sharing how I built this mini bench from a twin headboard soon. I'm calling it a Plant Bench. 😄 It's not quite big enough to be a real bench, the seat is low and narrow. I didn't want this bench to stick out too far blocking our pathway, but I wanted something that I could put plants on and change out the décor with the seasons to bring some life and color to our back patio!
This is going to be perfect for that! It's out of the way and we see this corner of our patio from our kitchen and living room looking out our sliding glass door.

Falling For Autumn Tablescape Blog Hop

I have been so excited to put this Fall Tablescape together for months now! I've also joined some amazing blog friends at the end of this post to share their beautiful tablescapes as well, so I hope you'll go check them out after!
Last year I went with soft colors like blue, white and gray. This year I was feeling the deeper tones, but trying to keep it elegant. When I started planning this tablescape in my head the only thing I knew I wanted was wheat lining the center of the table, brass candle sticks and pears! I didn't know if I was going to use the pears for the centerpiece or the place settings though. I'll usually buy elements that I like and play with them until I come up with something that I like! I always say buy what you like & if it doesn't work you can return it.

DIY Shabby Chic Fabric Pumpkins

Our two older boys are back in school and we were sad to see Summer go! I'm glad to have a little bit of a routine back in place though and it's back to hours of homework every night after school. haha
I know most people wait till September to start Fall décor but I needed something to get my creative ideas flowing again after our Summer break! A new season always brings inspiration and I always try to make something for each season every year. This way my little ones see and get to help as they grow up, as did my two older boys growing up.
I made a No Sew Fabric Pumpkins a few years back that can be found HERE but I wanted to make some shabby chic fabric pumpkins this year and doing a simple running stitch was easier than using a bunch of hot glue with two little ones!

DIY Fall Placemat Scroll Art

It's hard to believe Fall is almost here again! With our older boys returning to school on Monday it doesn't even feel like Summer anymore, besides the extremely hot weather! haha That being said my mind is all on Fall décor. I think it's easy to transition Summer décor into Fall by leaving some of the yellow flowers out and adding in some darker colors like Magnolia's and their dark leaves.  I usually stay on the neutral side but I'm adventuring out of my comfort zone this year & going a little darker!

Target has a ton of the Hearth & Hand line on sale right now and when I came across this pack of 10 ticking stripe placemats I immediately thought they would make the perfect Fall Scroll Art! They were only $3.49 and I found the Magnolia Stems on sale as well for $3.49 each! I pulled those off of the stem and hot glued them how I wanted them to lay flat ang then hot glued them to the door. I wouldn't recommend hot gluing to your walls but since this is a high gloss door I know I can just pull them off afterwards.

Summer Sips Strawberry Peach Smoothie Spritzer

With Summer coming to an end and Fall around the corner I'm so excited to be joining some very talented blogging/Instagram friends for some yummy Summer drink ideas! I hope you'll go visit them at the end of this post for our Summer Sips Blog Hop! Since we just got back from visiting Savannah for the first time I thought it would be fun to use peaches, and you can never go wrong with strawberries! We're not big drinkers in our house so I wanted to create something that kids and adults could enjoy.

Drying Herbs From The Garden: Basil

This is our first Spring/Summer garden in our home. For the first year of being in our home I focused on the inside and when Spring hit us this year all I wanted to do was hang outside!
We have a little rock boarder around our pool so to not take up yard space, I put four garden beds along the backside of our pool enclosure. We weren't expecting too much from this garden since it was more of trial run and see if we could handle it. Surprisingly we're all enjoying the upkeep of the garden. One of the beds is for herbs and the Basil was ready for clipping!

This part is the fun part for the little ones since they ALWAYS want to pull everything off in the garden. I showed them how to pluck the leaves and away they went filling their colander! We decided to make dried Basil for now but would like to try our hand at making a Pesto sauce next. Since we make some Christmas gifts every year we are putting the dried Basil into glass herb jars.

The bright green leaves were just too pretty not to take some photos!

After giving the Basil a good wash we laid the leaves out on a backing sheet and backed at 180 degrees for two hours. This dried the Basil leaves out and we could just crumble them up now to funnel them into the jar.

I purchased glass seasoning jars from Target a couple years back with the intention of making our spices prettier but I never did it. I'll be putting them to use this year to make our homemade basil Christmas gifts!

What are some of your favorite handmade gifts? We try to make useful gifts every year.

Red White & Blue Tablescape Blog Hop

I'm so excited to be joining 20 other talented bloggers for this Red White & Blue Tablescape Blog Hop! When Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate asked me to join I was thrilled! I had already put together a Vintage Chic 4th Tablescape a couple weeks back and I had some other ideas already spinning in my head as I was setting that one for another one! haha, funny how that works, right?

When I think about what the 4th of July means to me, I think history! The signing of the Declaration of Independence, our freedom & land of our own!  I had these elements in my mind when I was playing with ideas. I wanted to set the table with a vintage/history feeling but still elegant.

Our Inspired Collection #7

Hi everyone! Summer fun is in full swing over here and summer is going by so fast! Florida can be hard to plan anything in the Summer with the heat & afternoon thunderstorms! We mostly do local things and we're hoping to get away to Georgia in July! I am taking the little ones to a local garden this week to see the Fairy Gardens they have set up! It's a 50 acre garden with 15 one of kind "fairy doors" and more that runs until September at Leu Gardens! I'll be sharing some photos from that adventure soon.

How To Add A Vintage Touch To Your Pillowcases

We recently picked up new sheets for our bed and it came with four pillowcases. I thought to myself, so many plain pillowcases these will just sit in our linen closet! That gave me an idea to embellish two of the pillowcases. I LOVE lace and ruffles and since I have a TON of lace from my husbands grandmother, I decided to use that.

This was an easy and inexpensive project. I would still like to add some ruffles to the other two pillowcases and make them more fluffy!

4th of July Decor: Vintage Chic Style

I don't typically decorate for the 4th of July but I've been feeling a little uninspired and I know if I have a "reason" to get inspired or change something up for the creative ideas to start flowing. For smaller holidays I'll do just smaller areas in our home like the dining room I went around the house and looked for blue & white items. Just by adding some American flags and blue décor that was enough to get the 4th of July feel.

Faux white peonies, a blue vintage scale, white dishes with a touch of red and blue mason jars. I like mixing vintage pieces in with the 4th décor by adding brass candle sticks and old crib spindles.

5 Tips To Creating A Farmhouse Kitchen

I get asked a lot how to get that farmhouse kitchen look in a builder grade home. When we moved into our home a little over a year ago the kitchen was a real eye sore! Our home is 23 years old and everything was original in the kitchen, most of it still is! We had to replace the dishwasher about four months ago because it wasn't cleaning the dishes....they were actually coming out dirtier! For now, with small children we decided it was best to hold off on new appliances since one of them literately took a small hammer to the front of the fridge! I wasn't going to let old appliances hold back adding farmhouse charm to our kitchen though!

Outdoor Summer Table Scape

With the weather being so enjoyable right now everyone wants to be outside! There is something about dining outside that is just relaxing and refreshing! I've put together a simple Summer table scape that you and your friends can relax around! You really can't go wrong with a woods & white table setting! There's just a relaxing feeling that comes with that mix.

I teamed up with Wayfair.com on this project
and went through pages & pages of décor before the right thing popped out at me! The vintage green votive jars and frosted succulent plants wrapped in burlap are from Wayfair.com. The full tutorial on how I created the book candle holder will be on their site soon!

DIY Botanical Art

Art can be very expensive especially when you need multiples! I love botanical prints and they can be hard to find and sometimes when you find them they can be a bit pricey. I searched Pinterest for free downloadable prints and found Lauren's at Bless'er House. I absolutely LOVE these six prints and if you want to download them you can head over to her blog and subscribe to get the free download!

Faux Marble Countertop {Part One}

I was scrolling through Instagram one day and happened to see a post by Instant Granite with vinyl coverings for countertops that look like marble & granite! I recently finished painting our cabinets and giving our kitchen a mini makeover but the dated yellow laminate countertops just made the space feel incomplete. After watching several videos online I was ready to give it try! Anything was better than the cream yellow!
Instant Granite was amazing to work with and I received the material within a week of giving them my kitchen measurements!

Here is what the countertops looked like before. I did this project in the evening when our little ones were sleeping so the during pictures aren't the best. A lot of our big projects are done in the evenings around here!

I'll be doing another blog post with more details on the painted cabinets and ways to update a kitchen on a budget!
